Pregnancy

Pregnancy portraits are best taken between 32 and 36 weeks. Try not to wear anything tight that will leave elastic marks (waistbands/undergarments) prior to the shoot (at least an hour). Don't use any lotions or oils on your skin, including stretch mark balms/creams, as they can cause excessive reflection in images. Applying lotions to elbows, knees, hands, or dry areas is okay.

Bring some of the following items: a button down solid shirt (possibly men's), a nice shirt/dress that makes you feel beautiful, a fitting solid color tank top, a couple of bottoms (jeans [jeans that fit but don't button are cute with a tank top], slacks, or black yoga pants), and underclothes (boy cut panties [prefer solid nude, black, and white] and a couple matching nice bras/tanks). I have fabric that we will use during the shoot.

I recommend treating yourself to a manicure/pedicure prior to the session. Please wear natural makeup and your hair down. You can bring a makeup kit and any hair clips you would use to tie your hair up. As for the father, I suggest he wears nice jeans and brings both a black and a white shirt (long sleeve and T-shirt) and black boxer briefs.

Newborns

Newborn sessions should be scheduled within the first three weeks. Newborns are best dressed in solid color sleepers (white is preferred/textured fabric is okay). Little hats or bows are great and cloth diapers with decorative pins are a nice touch. Special outfits, blankets, or stuffed animals can be added.

Children

Children are adorable dressed in jeans and a solid shirt/sweater, formal clothing, and special outfits. For summer sessions, bathing suits are a nice change and during the winter/holidays, wearing a winter coat with a scarf and hat creates beautiful images. Additionally, blankets or favorite toys can be added.

Families

Families and couples are best dressed in solid "natural" colors that are well coordinated (nothing too flashy with bold prints or patterns) - dark colors appear more formal.

Women

Women should wear normal daily makeup applying minimal liner and mascara. I ask that you bring a hair/makeup kit to the session where we can add to your makeup (easier then we can subtract). I am happy to assist clients with touchups during the session. If requested, a stylist can be arranged for a fee. Jewelry and accessories can be beautiful in images or can date the image --- generally less is better.

Men

Men look best in long sleeves. For a more formal portrait, I recommend a dark suit, a light shirt, and a dark tie (easy on the patterns). A striped shirt is okay, but solid is preferred. For a less formal portrait, pin-striped suits, brightly colored shirts, and vibrant ties are recommended. Jeans and a button down shirt or T-shirt is great for casual portraits (light patterns okay/solid color preferred).

Clients are encouraged to consult with me prior to their scheduled session.
